HAPPINESS WAS THE 2013 PASSWORD....
CHECK OUT THE PICS TO SEE WHY!
2012 VOLUNTEER OF THE YEAR
DOUGLAS BENDER
For over 50 years, Villa Park has been a volunteer city. Without significant recognition, council members, committee chairs and event coordinators have always donated their time to enhance the welfare of this unique town. This all changed at the beginning of 2013.
Thanks to the financial support from Union Bank acquired by VP Branch Manager Will Warren, a Volunteer Recognition Reception was held on February 20th at Rockwell's. The VPCS Foundations appreciation of the voluntary efforts of more than 100 citizens serving the city during the Golden Anniversary year was celebrated. Douglas Bender, the Anniversary Chair, was recognized as the Volunteer of the Year for 2012. All honored guests received special pins as well as provided a copy of The Hidden Jewel, a historical review of Villa Park autographed by the author, Jan Van Emon. Thanks to Carol Stone for organizing the event.
It is anticipated that the honorary reception and awards will become a yearly Foundation tradition in gratitude to those that have generously extended a helping hand to make a positive difference in the lives of those who live, work, learn and play in Villa Park. OH YEAH....THE CONCERT IN THE (VILLA) PARK ROCKED!
It was a magnificent evening on August 2nd in the VPHS Outdoor Amphitheater. Four local students initially warmed the hearts of the audience with their special musical performances followed by the VP Community Band led by Major Chuck Jay. And, then....
Paperback Writer had the crowd humming and dancing to all their favorite Fab Four tunes. There is no doubt that “Hey, Jude” will long be remembered as a favorite by the many Beatles fans in the VP audience that waved hands high with their lighted smart phones while they made a sad song even better. WOW! The smart phones quickly turned into cameras as the audience was invited to pose for personal photos with Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Heart Club Band.
Special thanks to the many members & sponsors of the VPCS Foundation and Villa Park Women's League for providing the funds to make this beautiful evening a FREE family event for our community. Much gratitude to the many volunteers, performers, food vendors and OUSD staff, too! YOU ALL ROCK!

FOUNDATION RESPONDS TO GRANT REQUESTS FROM OUR LOCAL SCHOOLS WITH BIG CHECKS!
50 was Great! But, oh, no...the VPCS Foundation didn't finish celebrating with an empty plate! At the closure of the golden anniversary year, major funding for beautification of entry walls to our Hidden Jewel was initiated in conjunction with the City of Villa Park. Villa Park Road at both Lemon and Santiago now sparkle with spectacular signage at entrances to the place we call HOME.
